Maïtanne’s career began in the world of finance, which took her to Paris, New York and London. Fuelled by a lifelong passion for plants and landscapes, she retrained and obtained her Garden Design Diploma at the English Gardening School, followed by a Master’s degree in Restoration and Conservation of Historical Gardens at the Architectural Association, School of Architecture (the AA), in London.
Maïtanne has been creating gardens for over 12 years for a range of international clients. She is a registered member of the Society of Garden Designers, the only professional association for garden designers in the UK, and a fully accredited member of the British Association of Landscape Industries.
Maïtanne’s aim is always to ensure that the garden sits harmoniously alongside the house and natural environment, in order to bring enjoyment to those who live in it. From urban roof terraces and country gardens to residential or commercial properties, her landscapes are always elegant, practical and timeless, regardless of the location, size or budget.
At Maïtanne Hunt Design, we believe the relationship between a building and its setting is paramount and enjoy working with architects and designers from the start of the project.
We have experience in creating gardens for listed buildings and historic grounds that are subject to strict heritage compliance and historical restorations. We are familiar with planning applications as well as large-scale master planning and can undertake overseas projects.
Our designs aim for sustainable solutions, respect the environment, create biodiversity and conserve habitats.
